HELP HANDICAPPED

Osama Manzar did a brilliant job in highlighting the noble work being done by Deep Shikha. It is one of the pioneering institutes of its kind in the eastern region, taking special care of dyslexic children.
Since its modest beginning in 1988, it has helped many mentally handicapped children shape their destiny with pride and confidence. There is no gainsaying the fact that the mentally handicapped should be treated at par with normal persons. Many mentally retarded persons have proved, time and again, that given sufficient opportunity, they can be second to none in any field.
It is also the need of the hour to take care of mentaliy retarded people residing in rural areas, for about 70 per cent of such people live in villages. Certainly, many more Deep Shikhas are needed in this country to help the lot of dyslexic people.
